i have been living in canberra for 8 years and feel fairly settled here. everyone thinks where they live is "god's country".

i feel this way about canberra.

canberra gets a flogging from every other state about the weather and pollies. i don't know why. it is great to really know you are in winter. crisp cold winter mornings. the air temperature 5 degrees below zero. that fresh tingling feeling on your face as you step out the door.

and the pollies. well you never really see them anyway. little johhny knobend doesn't want to live here and I don't particularily want him to live here either.
